About the Business
I am a psychotherapist with experience working within the NHS, private practice and voluntary sector. The aim of my practice is to work together in total confidentiality in order to establish the source of your difficulties and the most effective way of solving these issues. I also work with those who would like to go on a journey of self-discovery and learn ways to understand themselves better.

I believe that we all are capable of making changes in our lives and feeling stuck is often a signal of necessity to change how we approach a problem. We will work together towards examining what is no longer working in your current circumstances and find the most helpful ways for you to live a full and meaningful life in line with who you are.

What is Psychotherapy?

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is an intervention which allows people to safely explore any worries, behaviors and thoughts which leave you feeling anxious, confused or upset. Over a number of sessions, you will be able to discuss the way you feel towards other people, certain situations and towards yourself.

The therapist will not provide any answers or offer advice, but will instead be a companion who can help to guide you as you explore your issues. It may be necessary to go beyond the initial problem to identify any underlying causes so you can resolve both long term and immediate issues. For a psychotherapeutic intervention to be effective, it will require you to engage with the therapist during each session. The trust your build with your therapist will allow them to offer non-judgemental reflections about your issues.

A therapist will encourage you to talk about what's bothering you in order to help to uncover how you are really feeling and to identify your specific ways of thinking and coping with difficulties..

There are many different schools of psychotherapy which place emphasis on different areas of a person's mental life and the problems they may be experiencing. The type of therapy which is recommended to you will depend on the kind of issues you are currently dealing with. Therapy sessions will typically take place at least once a week for several months or sometimes years. The length of the treatment will depend on the severity of the problem you require support for. If you have long-standing or complicated issues, longer term interventions tend to have better outcomes when compared to shorter-term treatment.

Psychotherapy is used to address a range of conditions, including: • Depression • Anxiety disorders • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) • Eating disorders • Substance misuse • Emotional problems caused by divorce and bereavement Psychotherapy can allow you to find new ways of looking at and dealing with emotional problems, helping you to gain a greater understanding of yourself, your values and your life goals.
