Southdowns Psychotherapy specialises in counselling and psychotherapy from short to longer-term for adults in West Sussex. From comfortable and quiet surroundings in Washington and Horsham.
I practice, endorse and incorporate Mindfulness in therapy sessions, which is proven to be very effective in treating stress, anxiety and depression. I run workshops with Jo Bareham on EatingMindfully. See Jo's website, www.healthyyou.co.uk, for details and booking. In a voluntary capacity I facilitate a monthly support group and offer assistance as a drop-in advisor once a week for The Friends and Families Network, Orchard House, Crawley. This service is funded by the West Sussex Carers.
I make it a goal to ensure that every client that contacts me finds their way to a counsellor that meets their needs. This may be me, or it may be one of the many other counsellors that I am connectedwith across the South of England. I have been working as a psychotherapist for 10 years now. My education focused on philosophy - this has led me to take up existential psychotherapy - a method that I hope you will find as exciting and as challenging as I do.
Hello and welcome, my name is Eleanor and I am a fully qualified and experienced Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice. My practice is at the New Street Clinic, 20 New Street,Horsham, West Sussex. RH13 5DU. Counselling and psychotherapy can help alleviate distress, be less critical and punishing towards oneself as well as understand ourselves better and create a different future. As a counsellor I am committed to providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental service.
In my previous career I worked as a manager and then director in some large software companies and later in a management consultancy firm. I work predominantly in my own private practice; however, Ihave worked as a therapist for staff within the NHS and for NHS patients via the Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme.
I began my counselling career over 15 years ago working for HM Prison Service where I provided post incident support to members of staff. Since then I have gone on to gain a BSc in IntegrativeCounselling at Roehampton University. As well as working as a Psychotherapist/Counsellor in private practice, I also work as an NHS Psychological Therapist in primary care. I have extensive and varied experience particularly in the areas of Anger, depression and anxiety.
I qualified professionally at postgraduate level in 1998 at Sussex University and have been accredited with the BACP since 2004. I have engaged in continual professional and personal development, including a two year Infant Observation course and two years in NHS Psychiatric Placements, and I am now in further training with WPF Therapy in order to qualify as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.
