About the Business
In my working life, I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist currently working in an NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. (CAMHS) alongside my private practice.

I have an interest in PTSD and trauma, including developmental trauma, attachment styles and ways that people relate to others. When I have the privilege of working with people, I like to be actively involved in the therapy, and will (with permission) use things that are happening 'in the room' to help identify patterns and interactions that may be present in other settings as well. While I believe in the importance of having a good understanding of the people I work with and their life story so far, this can help to keep therapy current and in the present moment as well.

My other work-life passion is working with people who have an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). I find this work challenging, but also rewarding. I believe strongly in dispelling some of the myths about ASC and reducing the stigma associated with the diagnosis. This can be through providing psychological therapy to an individual or support to those helping people with an ASC, such as family members or other professionals.

Therapy

Therapy

Is it for me?

I believe that we can all benefit from therapy, however, timing is key to success. If you often feel distressed or upset, have difficulties that you would like to overcome, such as trauma/PTSD, anxiety or depression or struggle with the relationships in your life, then therapy is likely to be helpful. Whether it is the right time for you depends on how able you feel to tolerate some discomfort and push through despite the possibility of things getting a bit worse before they get better. Of course, this is not something that you will have to do alone - that is the beauty of therapy.

How long will it last?

Therapy can continue for as long or short a time as you wish. Some difficulties typically require more sessions than others, and this would be discussed with you after we have had our initial meeting. I would typically plan a set number of sessions - about six - and then review. Reviewing the work is an important part of the therapeutic process, to make sure that we are using the right approach and working effectively.
