Whilst there, I became intrigued by the connections between western philosophy/ spirituality and eastern mysticism and thewisdom they offered. On my return from India, I trained as a social worker and worked as a children and family's social worker for four years. I moved from there to work as a psychotherapist in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team, again for four years.
What sort of problems can be helped by psychotherapy? Psychotherapy is helpful for those who suspect that their difficulties have an emotional or psychological origin. Everyone experiences emotionalproblems at some stage in life and these are often resolved without outside help. However, sometimes they persist unconsciously and are repeated because current issues stir up feelings from the past and this may adversely affect our ability to cope.
